2006 CATFISH TOURNAMENT RESULTS
AUGUST 12, 2006 MARIETTA - The League of Ohio Sportsmen’s 7th Annual Catfish Tournament ended at 3:00pm today at the Public Boat Ramp on SR-60. Winning first prize overall was the team of Robert Brooks and Mark Caudill from Mt. Orab. The winner of the largest flathead catfish was the team of James Fox and Greg Adkins of Chillicothe.

Rounding out the top six overall prizes were: 2nd prize, the team of Shannon Wilson and Ted Sherman from Newark; 3rd prize, the team of Steve and Ray Bennett from Beverly; 4th prize, the team of John Kesselring and Jack Pratt from Marietta; 5th prize, the team of David Ogilvie and Terry Franklin from Newark; 6th prize, the team of Michael Ray Vernon and Michael Wehner of New Holland. The 2nd prize flathead catfish was turned in by the team of Kelly Hedges and Brent Tomson of Lockbourne.
63 teams from throughout southern Ohio and West Virginia competed in the competition which began at 3:00pm Friday on the Ohio River and it’s tributaries. Prize money totaling $1,250.00 was paid to the eight winning teams: $225.00 for the largest flathead catfish, $150 for the second prize flathead catfish, $250.00 for first prize, $200.00 for second prize, $175.00 for third prize, $125.00 for fourth prize, $75.00 for fifth prize, and $50.00 for sixth prize.
The League of Ohio Sportsmen, based in Columbus, is celebrating it’s 98th year of serving hunters, anglers and people who love the outdoors. The League along with it’s conservation education arm, the Ohio Wildlife Federation, sponsor camps to teach youth outdoor skills including fishing, and offer college scholarships to students of natural resources and wildlife management.
